Although it has been a great bowling season at Lucas Lanes, the fall season will be coming to an end.  The good news is that we will have a great selection of fun summer leagues including at least one new unique league, the 789 Scratch league.  Bowling in the summer gives bowlers a chance to continue their great bowling and have fun all year round.  It is a great opportunity to work on your game and to improve and maybe add an Honor Score or two to your credit.  We believe that practice helps bowlers to bowl better so we are giving each full time summer league bowler three free games per week per league.  Bowling two leagues means six free games per week.  We will be open more hours this summer to give you more different times to practice.

Some bowlers have recently had their best ever scores, Johnny and Linda Grace both had their best ever games with Johnny rolling his first ever Honor Score game with 279.  Johnny opened the first frame and then rolled 11 strikes in a row.  For Linda it was a big 255 game.  Justin Perry and his mother Laura Cervin both rolled their highest series ever on the same night.  For Justin it was his 2nd ever and 2nd of the season 300 game and a 791 series, and for Laura it was games of 236-249-269 for a 754 series.  Bowling in the Baker System Doubles Tournament, Aaron and Shawna Henrichs combined for a 245 game, a higher game than either had ever bowled.

Not many people are ever going to forget the 300 game by Toby Jackson and the recent one by Kasey Cochran.  Walker Jones rolled his first Honor Score with 290, then he had his first ever 300 game and the first of several 700 series while his mother, Marva Jones rolled a 276 game.  Holli McCarty has a high series this season with 764 and daughter Sara Brown also topped 700 with 726 and became the first woman to roll a perfect 300 game here at Lucas Lanes.  Dale King and Chris Lucas started the new season on August 1st in a big way with Dale rolling a 299 game and Chris 290-812.  Chris has topped 800 ten times this season with a high of 845 and he also has several 300 games this season.  Mark Evans made the start of the Scratch Draft league exciting with a pair of 289 games and 834 series.  Jeff Laughlin has topped 800 five times this season with a high of 843 along with several 300 games.  Robert Milligan recently topped 800 with 823.  Steve Fowler rolled a 290 game and Jim Schones rolled his highest game ever with 290.  Randy Buller rolled a 300 game and a 290 game on consecutive weeks.  Other Honor Scores this season were by Brian Choate with 300 and Martin McClaflin with 290.

It doesn’t take an Honor Score to have a great day of bowling.  Don Phelps rolled his first ever 700 with 753.  Mark Schultz rolled his highest ever series with 781, Martin McClaflin his highest with 762 and Robert Swinford his highest with 759 and Shane Kugelman’s 716 was his 1st ever 700.  Rhonda Fairchild rolled her best ever series with 695 and Barbara Webster’s 234 game in a 581 series was her highest ever game.  Brandi Stephens was a super sub with a 693 series.

Several bowlers of retirement age are having a great season including Connie Chitwood with big games of 289 and 286 and also four 700 plus series.  Bob Bracken topped 700 with a big 279-752.  Jim Weber has topped 700 several times with a high of 729.  Cecil Day topped 700 with 705.  Several youth bowlers have had big games also including Dakota Milligan with 277, T-Joe Kingery 244 and Kristi Phelps with 222.  Others having a big day include Steve Fowler with a 779 series, Ryan Diamond 278-713, Frank Simmons 279-693 and Aaron Henrichs 606 was his first ever 600 series.

It has been an unbelievably great season with 41 different bowlers topping 700 this season including 38 men and 3 ladies.  We have had 25 Honor Scores rolled at Lucas Lanes in 2013 as of March 11th.  Chances are good that we will exceed the 97 Honor Scores at Lucas Lanes for the year 2012.  The big scores and excitement will continue this summer for those bowlers who bowl the summer leagues, plus they will be warmed up and ready for the next season, not cold from not bowling.
